There have been wonderful advancements in space travel in recent years, one of the people pushing it forward quicker than anyone is Elon Musk, his SpaceX company has been evolving things, creating rockets that will be able to send satellites up into space from places outside of the typical launch area, and return to Earth safely. (wikipedia) This one advance could be the first step in all but guaranteeing a trip to Mars, even in an unmanned form, it’s a huge breakthrough that leads to a bright future in space travel, even in lieu of the stereotypical space shuttle from the days of old. (space) I’ve dreamed of going into space many times, but I know there’s no way I could ever meet the physical demands of the testing that astronauts go through, so I keep my mind focused on the chances that somebody will come up with a way to create a consumer driven space travel venture. (latinpost) There’s always been that dream, the crazy one that one day somebody would find a way to put a tourist destination on the surface of the Moon, a hotel of some sort that would allow for a trip up where we could get a room with a view of Earth, it would be so amazing, and with the Moon now getting broadband access it’s an even bigger dream. (space)
As much as Richard Branson has put into his Virgin Galactic venture he looks to be leading the way in space tourism, just imagine what could happen if he were to team with Musk and really start pushing forward with things, it would be like Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark coming together on a project. (virgin) SpaceX unveiled their new Dragon V2 today, a capsule that will be able to ferry astronauts to space and a low Earth orbit, while also being able to be reused instead of coming back to Earth in a fireball making it essentially a throw away item every time one is used. (theguardian) With Musk’s new toy they would be able to use it again and again, making space flight much less expensive and allowing us to finally take many steps forward in our march toward further planets and even more distant galaxies. (huffingtonpost) This is an awesome age to live in, with all of the advancements before us, now if they could just figure out the concept of wormholes we could look into colonizing some distant Super Earth planets as a fall back in case this one finally shakes us off like the fleas that we are.
