Join forces and fight the elves in the strange town of South Park as the new kid. With over 3 fighting classes to choose and with over 20 side quests, this turn-based RPG is one of the better games of this year! With help from several characters from the hit show South Park, the stick of truth will be recaptured from the elves.
South Park: The Stick of Truth has the cartoon animated style that the TV show the game was made from has. It looks, feels, and sounds like an episode of South Park that the players gets to play through as a fully customized character. The town is filled with many places to see and references to the show. The attention to detail in every building, area, and house is what makes the game see like the show. A little detail I loved was that each character’s closet is filled with many items and pictures to reference moments that happened to that character throughout the TV series. The game, yes being a very good turn-based RPG, is a comedic game, just like the TV series. Jokes about nearly everything are made in this game. That is the one problematic thing about it. If you are offended by rude comments and slurs to religions, races, real life people, places, drug/alcohol abuse, nudity, ect. do not play this game. The kids are 4th graders and make jokes and rude comments and get into situations revolving these main points. Other than that, if you watch the show and enjoy it, you will enjoy this game.
Believe it or not, this game is a great turn-based RPG. The player will make many decisions and choices to make the character fight to their style. You have 4 classes (warrior, mage, thief, Jew,) and each has their pros/cons. Armor and weapons all have certain effects such as plus armor or causing effects (gross out, enraged, ect.) letting the player have much decision. Side missions give more items and unlocks more friends which are used to unlock certain abilities. The turn-based style is very good and reminds of Final Fantasy, or Paper Mario. It is a open-world game, so you can explore whenever and wherever. Bosses are fun and more challenging than regular enemies giving each boss a different style. Overall, if you like RPGs this game will be for you.
Overall, South Park: The Stick of Truth is a great comedic RPG with much exploration and story. It is very funny with all the TV show references. This was one of the weirdest yet funniest games I ever played. South Park: The Stick of Truth receives a 8/10.
