“Sons of Anarchy” have many long, arduous months to wait before the Men of Mayhem and the rest of the cast return to the airwaves. Show creator Kurt Sutter is generally very good about releasing spoilers and updates on the show and his creative process but sometimes the silence coming from the writers’ room is deafening. Fortunately, his wife, Katey Sagal is the actress who plays the matriarch of the Teller-Morrow family, Gemma and she has provided us with a glimpse into early filming of the last season of the beloved motorcycle club show.
The season 6 finale left fans with jaws dropped as they watched Gemma brutally murder, Tara (Maggie Siff), her daughter-in-law and the wife of the show’s protagonist, Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), who just happens to be Gemma’s one and only son. Gemma mistook Tara for a traitor and thought she was acting in the best interests of her son and the club. That will be of little comfort to Jax when he finds out his own momma whacked the woman he considered his “true north.”
Filming is barely underway for the seventh and final season of the series but Sagal took to Twitter to share a picture of herself in her Gemma persona. She posted “Who’s counting down to #SOAfx? Here’s your first look at season 7 Gemma.” She then shared a link to a photo of herself along with several of Hunnam in his role as Jax. In the shot of Sagal, she is seen next to someone in a policeman’s uniform. Gemma looks as gorgeous and as dangerous as ever in the jeans and black shirt with a spider web-like design.
The photos of Jax show him on a motorcycle in street clothes and in a telling orange jumpsuit. Down one leg of the not-so-chic outfit are the letters SJCCF, which undoubtedly stand for the San Joaquin County Correctional Facility.
Rumors are rampant among “Sons of Anarchy” fans that this means Jax is being sent to jail for Tara’s murder. If that is true, how much angrier will the club president be when he finds out he is jail for a crime his mother committed?
Jax’s presence in jail could be the explanation for how he comes in contact with Ron Tally, a white supremacist prison shot-caller, who helps Jax round up additional allies. Tally is being played by shock rocker Marilyn Manson, who is a devoted “Sons of Anarchy” fan.
The photos don’t reveal a great deal of what is happening in the respective scenes. They do however let fans know that filming is underway and it won’t be much longer before the “Sons of Anarchy” return to FX with season 7 for one last ride.
