She’s been crowned the ‘Twerk Queen’ by boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, and here are six more interesting facts about Miley Cyrus.
No Cinderella business
One thing Miley Cyrus and Cinderella have in common is a godmother, and while Cinderella’s is a fairy who helped her out in times of crisis, Miley’s is an accomplished country singer called Dolly Parton who prefers not to interfere with her life choices.
In reference to her god-daughter’s controversial live performances, the country singer said, “…back in the day, doing my own things my own way, and dressing sexy and showing my cleavage and all that, I got a lot of criticism.
“Lots of people thought I was making a mistake and that I was just trashy, which I was.
“So I did go through that, but I don’t give her advice.”
The Sound Of Music
In 2001, Miley went on a charity mission twice to Haiti with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to help distribute hearing aids, among other things.
Touching on the unique experience, she said, “After I went on my first mission to Haiti with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, I felt so drawn to helping others hear for the first time and immediately wanted to look for another chance to go back and help again…I grew up around music and couldn’t imagine what it would be like for my siblings and me, if we couldn’t hear the magic of music. It’s had such an influence on my life, that I just want everyone to enjoy sound as it was intended.”
As healthy as can be
A healthy adult heart normally beats 60 to 100 times a minute when a person is at rest. If a person’s heart rate beats faster than this, then that person has Tachycardia, as is the case with Miley Cyrus.
However, in her autobiography ‘Miles to Go’, the pop star insists that the condition has not adversely affected her profession. “The type of tachycardia I have isn’t dangerous. It won’t hurt me, but it does bother me,” she writes. “There is never a time on-stage when I’m not thinking about my heart.”
Bob Marley, ganja and cake…just joking
During Miley’s 19th birthday party at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles in November 2011, her friend Kelly Osbourne presented her with a birthday cake with Bob Marley’s image on it.
In acknowledgement, Miley announced to the guests, “You know you’re a stoner when your friends make you a Bob Marley cake. You know you smoke way too much f***ing weed.”
Her comments, captured on video, created a public scandal but in a rebuttal, her rep told Access Hollywood: “The cake was a joke and Miley was being sarcastic. It is all being completely taken out of context.”
In praise of ganja…no joking
But in a 2013 ‘Rolling Stone’ interview, Miley got serious about her drug use: “I think weed is the best drug on earth. One time I smoked a joint with peyote in it, and I saw a wolf howling at the moon.
“Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too. Those are happy drugs – social drugs. They make you want to be with friends. You’re out in the open. You’re not in a bathroom. I really don’t like coke. It’s so gross and so dark.”
Among the chosen few
Miley made it to the Time “100 Most Influential People’ list in April 2014, and godmother Dolly Parton did the write-up on her: “…the girl can write. The girl can sing. The girl is smart. And she doesn’t have to be so drastic. But I will respect her choices. I did it my way, so why can’t she do it her way?”
