According to Mayo Clinic electronic cigarettes are battery operated and contain nicotine. An atomizer heats the nicotine turning it into a vapor. They further state that the Food and Drug Administration questions the safety of it because of found traces of toxic chemicals including known cancer-causing substances.
The European Parliament has issued new rules regarding electronic cigarettes. Starting in mid-2016 advertising would be banned in 28 nations of the European Union and they will be required to carry graphic health warnings and must be childproof. Now in the United States there are warnings on tobacco cigarettes, so I could understand the need for warnings to be on electronic cigarettes when there are concerns regarding safety.

Although I do not smoke and have not smoked electronic cigarettes, I understand the concern for safety. The second hand smoke from tobacco can be quite strong and quite bothersome. I have observed others smoking them and someone sat directly across from me from smoking one, I did not smelled second hand smoke like the smell from tobacco smoking, but then there is yet still more to learn about how this vapor possibly could add to second hand smoke damage. Even though I did not smell that tobacco odor, it does not mean that I did not inhale the second hand dangers that may not be known about this electronic cigarette.
In Minnesota a series of bills have been introduced to ban electronic cigarettes in schools and more power given to set parameters regarding the sale of the cigarettes according to startribune.com. They further stated another bill introduced would ban electronic cigarettes in public buildings, restaurants, or other establishments under the state’s indoor air act.
According to Christine Gentry, chief operating officer of Vapure, there are only four ingredients in the electronic cigarettes that they make. Those ingredients are pharmaceutical-grade nicotine like that found in the patch, vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol and flavorings for the refill liquid made by food-grade companies. She further adds that she has a San Diego-based company with seven stores.
Democrats have introduced a bill to ban marketing electronic cigarettes to teens in order to protect children from the smoking simulators. They further are adamant that these type of cigarettes are the “gateway” to actual cigarette smoking. So what is your take on this? Do you believe electronic cigarettes are safe?
