I love to bake. In fact, baking is one of my stress relievers. All you need is patience, ingredients, space and the proper utensils. Certain utensils will help you bake the most delicious desserts, with the skill and precision of a French pastry chef, or at least make you feel like one.
A silicone spatula will be your best friend in the kitchen. Not only does it help you scrape batter from bowls, it is flexible at the ends and helps get honey out of hard to reach places. Have you ever tried to get that last corner of honey from the jar? If you have, then you know just how valuable a silicone spatula can be.
Non-Stick Cookie Sheet
Cookie sheets are an important tool in the kitchen. Not only can you use the cookie sheet to bake cookies or pastries, the cookie sheet has many uses. In my kitchen, the cookie sheet has been used as a tray to carry items from one end of the kitchen to the other.
Digital Kitchen Scale
The kitchen scale is a helpful addition to the kitchen of a pastry chef, or one in the making. When baking, I find that it is easier and more accurate to weigh my dry ingredients as opposed to using the measuring cups. This makes for great accuracy and I tend to use less containers when I am weighing my ingredients.
When choosing a mixing bowl, opt for the bowls with measurement marks. This is a great tool for the kitchen and it helps you keep precise measurements of your ingredients.
Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer
Need I say more? The Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer is the holy grail of personal kitchen mixers. This mixer will not only look beautiful in your kitchen, it mixes baking ingredients with precision.
Wood Cutting Board
In my kitchen, a plastic cutting board will not work for baking. Wood cutting boards last a lifetime and are quite useful when shaping and kneading dough.
Whisks can be found in different sizes and are an essential part of the kitchen. Beat egg whites to fluffy, marshmallow-like mounds. Whip cream using this mixer and you will never go back to doing it by hand, or buying it from the store.
