Here are the 7 worst serial killers never caught, and still not brought to justice. Some might be dead of old age by now (or maybe not), but many of these murderers are still out there – human monsters on the loose. Be careful on your next hike in the woods, or back alley shortcut. These are the seven worst serial killers who were never caught:
The Zodiac Killer
He confessed to 38 murders in a letter to the police back in 1966 in northern California. Only 8 could be proven. Some were shot, others stabbed. He taunted police with cryptic letters, but was never caught.
Cleveland Torso Murderer
In Ohio and Pennsylvania, between 1935 and 1938, he chopped 12 people in half. Recent evidence suggests there were more. He beheaded, dismembered, and left his victims in various open places. Four were found in boxcars in PA, one at a business address, and others in swamps. Never caught.
The Alphabet Murders
A series of grisly murders gripped Rochester, New York, in 1971 to 1973. All the victims were young girls ages 10 and 11, who have the same first and last initial, such as Michelle Maenza and Carmen Colon. An ice cream vendor was questioned, but no one was ever convicted of these crimes.
Jack the Stripper
This serial murderer killed 8 women between the ages of 20 and 30, and left them naked on display back in the 1960s. Flecks of industrial paint were found on the victims. He was never brought to justice.
The Phantom Killer
In Texarkana Texas and Texarkana, Arkansas, brutal murders were committed by a tall man with a white sack over his head. He used a hand gun and killed every few weeks. He murdered 5 people, injured several more in 1946. The killer was never caught.
The Doodler
In San Francisco between 1974 and 1975 he killed his victims by luring them to his apartment to sketch them. Then he would stab them to death. 14 victims that police know of, but the murderer was never caught or jailed.
The West Mesa Murders, or West Mesa Bone Collector
The most recent entry on our list, and most disturbing. In Albuquerque from 2003 until current, someone killed and buried at least 20 people, all female. Police identified 11 women, but could not ID the rest. Their bones were found, but the killer is still “at large” and not in prison.
Never caught or jailed, and the FBI stopped searching years ago, but some of these files remain open. Of course, there might be worse cases that were never connected – some serial murderer who has slipped between the cracks. We may never know.
