The less I have to cook the better. I try to find simple ways of incorporating vitamins, minerals and sources such as protein, healthy omega-3 fats and fiber to my diet; eating seeds is an easy nutritional way to accomplish doing so!
According to studies done by Wayne Coats – “the anecdotal evidence of Chia’s positive health effects include energy, stabilizing blood sugar, aiding digestion and lowering cholesterol.”
I find it exciting to explore and experiment with different seasons and foods. I’ve tried numerous dishes using chia seeds.
I sprinkle chia seeds on cream of wheat, oatmeal, soups, salads and stir fries.
Not only do chia seeds provide you with oega-3 fats and fiber they also contain calcium, manganese, and phosphorus. Wow!
I eat pumpkin seeds right out of the bag! They are an anytime snack for me. Pumpkin seeds provide your body with manganese, copper, protein, magnesium, and zinc.
If you prefer you can roast them, but the most nutritional way to consume them is raw.
According to one study “pumpkin seed oil has been found to exhibit anti-inflammatory effects. One animal study even found it worked as well as the anti-inflammatory drug indomethacin in treating arthritis, but without the side effects.”
I sprinkle flaxseed on a variety of dishes. What I like about flaxseed is the gelatin texture that they produce when added to hot foods like:
- Cream of wheat and oatmeal!
- Stir fries, and soups
I sometimes buy breads peppered with flaxseed.
Flaxseeds are high in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. I’ve never tried the ground flax seed, but “most nutrition experts recommend ground over whole flaxseed because the ground form is easier for your body to digest.”
I’m moving towards experimenting with the ground flaxseed!
Flaxseed can be used to improve
- Digestive health
- Relieve constipation.
The benefits of this little seed are miraculous!
Good sources of:
- Vitamin E
I sprinkle them in my salads, hot cereals, stir fries, ice cream, and so many more dishes! Of course that would be the roasted sunflower seeds! But enjoy them in their shell also!
I enjoy eating healthy, but I equally enjoy being healthy! Seed’s is an awesome way to do both!
