About ten years ago i bought my first computer from a friend of mine who was ab;e to build computers. My friend charged me 400.00$. My computer was a piece of solid gold in my eyes! I loved it,learned everything I know now from working with it,and just flat out thought it was a great investment. But inevitably my solid gold investment got old. I had the computer for about 2 years when i decided to learn how to upgrade it. I started reading how to’s,and gather info on upgrading and/or building a computer. I felt confident that i could at least replace some key parts in this machine,so i shopped around for ram, hard drive, and a dvd drive. I found a stick of ram for 5$. My computer at the time, had only a half a gig of ram in from the start,so i bought another half a gig, because i found out that my machine supports one full gig of ram.Next I found a hard drive for 30$. My computer only came with an 80 gig hard drive, witch filled up fast of pics, videos and games. The new hard drive was a 300 gigs of space. I felt that was a huge upgrade for a great price.Next on the list i purchased a dvd drive for around 20$. Great price at the time. I found that now to make the hard drive work i had to reinstall an operating system,so i bought a copy of windows xp for around 30$. I installed xp and it all worked great. Throughout all this upgrading, and all the prices of everything. I soon realized how cheap it really is to build a computer.I also realized the potential money that can be earned from building one of my own,and selling it.(i also became a bit upset at said friend) I decided to price out the rest of my computer parts i did not upgrade. I found that my motherboard, power supply and processor were about 70$ to replace if i wanted to. All thats left to price now is the computer case and a graphics card. I found that all together my computer cost a total of 220$ to build. So my friend charged me near to double what it cost to build my computer. Good for him i guess. Since finding that out,and learning all the skill i needed to build my own machine,I’m not so bummed out. Ive built three computers since then and all have four core processors, very large hard drives, great graphics.and all have very nice cases. I spent no more than 600$ a piece in parts for all three. I could maybe sell each one for 1200$ a piece, but i wont because i know how it feels to overpay and i know for a fact that they are really easy to put together. My point for all that made it this far is to do your research before you overpay on a computer also. Thanks to you all.
