Ric Hearst who plays Ric Lansing is finally returning to General Hospital later in February 2014. His character has been off the soap opera since 2009 with the storyline saying that Lansing was in Los Angeles. Lansing only has a few relatives in the fictional town of Port Charles. He is Sonny Corinthos’ half-brother. It will be interesting to see his interaction with Sonny’s now grown sons.
It’s easy to predict that Ric’s reunion with Sonny won’t go well since Ric always hated Jason Morgan and he won’t be able to resist enjoying that Jason is presumed dead. On the other hand, Ric may be in town to help Sonny with his problems with the Jerome family.
When Lansing was last on the soap, his daughter, Molly Lansing Davis, was just a baby. Now, she’s a teenager who is in an interracial relationship. But since the soap opera shows mixed couple relationships without any objection from the other characters, it is doubtful this will be a problem for Ric Lansing. Besides, all of the fatherly relationship disapproval on GH seems to be saved up for Julian Jerome and his newly found adult gay son, Lucas Jones.
Lansing’s return does raise some questions. Is Ric Lansing back to stay, or is his return going to be very brief like so many other former characters’ returns?
