I recently had the pleasure of sampling Parmesan encrusted butterfly shrimp, a new product from SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Company. This frozen jumbo butterfly shrimp is encrusted with a light, crispy Parmesan and Italian herb breading and comes with a creamy tomato Romano sauce that’s perfect for dipping.
I have tried many types of frozen seafood before, and I must say that I initially wasn’t sure what to expect with this offering, though I have been impressed with SeaPak frozen seafood products before, and that was why I decided to sample their butterfly shrimp product.
The 18-ounce box contains about 14 ounces of Parmesan butterfly shrimp (the packet containing the tomato sauce weighs 4 ounces). About 5 servings of 4 shrimp each come to a box.
That quantity of food makes this Parmesan shrimp product perfect for serving during party gatherings or as an entrée for family dinners, which might also be served in this case with pasta and green beans, asparagus, or another vegetable side dish.
How the SeaPak Parmesan Encrusted Butterfly Shrimp Tastes
The quality of this product struck me from the moment I took my first bite of the Parmesan shrimp. Often, I find frozen shrimp to be somewhat chewy and rather dry. This shrimp, however, is moist and quite tasteful, though it needs to be flipped over six minutes into the 14-minute prep, for which I used a standard oven.
(Toaster oven and deep frier cooking options are also available for SeaPak frozen shrimp).
The breading on the shrimp is ample, but not too thickly layered, as is often the case with frozen seafood products. It’s always a plus when the breading doesn’t overpower but, rather, complements the seafood.
All in all, I find the frozen butterfly shrimp very satisfying and definitely worthy of my purchasing again.
