Synopsis: Spencer (Troian Bellisario) returns from rehab only to end up under strict supervision at home while Aria (Lucy Hale) uses a random fling to help her regain her confidence so she can face Ezra (Ian Harding).
Review: I’ll start out by saying that, as a parent, this episode made me cringe a bit. Aria’s decision to go on an underage drinking binge and have sex with some guy she just met is the exact opposite of the choices I hope my own daughters would make. If anything, this episode is a good example of why parents should pay attention to the shows their kids watch.
Ezra’s big reveal about Jessica DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) potentially being “A” wasn’t that big of a shock considering the episode had been hinting at that already. However, especially after the recent red herring involving Ezra himself, I’m not convinced. Granted, it’s possible, especially since I’ve never been convinced she really believed Alison (Sasha Pieterse) was dead. But, much like with Ezra, I think there’s going to be some other twist that ultimately clears her.
Since we’re on the subject of “A,” I haven’t completely ruled out Paige (Lindsey Shaw) just yet. Something tells me she has an ulterior motive for giving that note about Ali to the police and it isn’t just about protecting Emily (Shay Mitchell). And, let’s face it, when you really think about it, our knowledge about her past is very limited. Not to mention, we can’t exactly account for her whereabouts whenever “A” strikes.
I’m also not convinced we are getting the full story from Spencer’s limited memory about the night Alison disappeared. Since we know she didn’t kill Ali, her cryptic memory involving the shovel and blood splatter makes me think, instead of attacking Ali, she might have had something to do with the mystery body in Ali’s grave. Perhaps Ali was attacked and Spencer came to her defense?
Final Opinion: As was noted before, I wasn’t a huge fan of Aria’s drinking binge/fling. However, I think the episode is leaving just enough unanswered questions to keep things interesting and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
