Positives of the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 400

The faster that you type the louder your typing sounds and for typist, secretaries, student, and everyone help who have to do a lot of typing won’t have to type so loudly because of the keys tap softer.

Installation is easy and all of the special keys are easy to use. The special keys are reprogrammable. The zoom function is very handy and located in the center of the keyboard which makes for good navigation and zooming in and making the font bigger or smaller.

The wrist pad is built with high quality material, it’s built in, and it’s easy to install with a driver’s CD. When you use it the top part of the keyboard is tilted so that you can type easier and your wrist will be below the keyboard in other words, “negative tilt”.

Significantly reduces carpal tunnel syndrome and even if you have carpal tunnel syndrome you can do your job without pain after an hour.

At first the typing with this keyboard is quiet then after the keys have loosened up typing with this keyboard becomes loud but at the same time the loud typing associated with tis keyboard are quieter than most keyboards so this is not necessarily a bad thing.

Negatives to be Aware of

Some of the keys are moved from their standard position which means that the keys like ENTER, BACK SLASH KEY, and SHIFT may be larger, smaller, or moved on the keyboard than you’d expect so you would have to readjust yourself so you can reach those keys.

The web quick access button did not permit programming any other browser to open other than Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

Some customers have had complaints that this particular keyboard has caused them to have chronic thumb twitching because of the keyboard button being too hard to press and that the keys are stiff.

Some customers have complained that once you get used to the keys and loosen them up some of the keys fail after 2 or 3 months not to mention that the wrist rest starts showing signs of wear making it look dull and nearly worn out. Microsoft will not provide replacement keys but MIGHT replace the keyboard.

Final Thoughts

This Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000- business version seems like a pretty swell buy especially for around $40. It just may be worth the buy. The advantages are many but the negatives are interesting. Should you buy it? Maybe, that is if you like buying new keyboards after 2 or 3 months because of wear and dullness. But then again the keys may fail. We would say use it but you should keep the traditional keyboard near as a means for emergencies whenever and if this keyboard fails you. We were so ready to go out and buy this keyboard until a significant amount of customers reported that the keyboard keys had failed after a few months and the dull wrist rest looked old when the product was really new.

If you are using another version of ergonomic keyboard then unless you absolutely need a new one then buy this version. If customer comments left out the fact that the keyboard keys failed them then we would possibly go out and buy this product. We can deal with a little bit of wear on a keyboard. It’s not like everyone will be staring at your keyboard.
