Rate My Professors is a great website for college and university students, however there is a new website out there that is fast growing and appears to be more useful for students.
Rate My Professors is great because it offers students a chance to see which are the best professors at your college or university, but that’s all it offers. It has useless factors like professor hotness as well. I am not knocking Rate My Professors at all because it is a very useful website that most students use to survive college, but there are many other websites that offer more thorough information. The better informed you are, the more likely you are to succeed.
A rather new website, launched in December of 2013, appears to be more thorough for students looking to find out which college classes are best for them. This website, Syllabus Rate, offers students the opportunity to view a syllabus for a course and upload their own. With that being said, students are able to find out more information about what a class is about and what is going to be covered in that class. Students can also view the grading policies, class expectations, and more by examining the class syllabus. Along with course syllabi, Syllabus Rate also offers students the opportunity to rate everything out of five stars. One star being poor, two stars being okay, three stars being average, four stars being above average, and five stars being excellent. This gives students a good idea whether they should take the class or not. Students are also able to leave comments and feedback about the class, syllabus, and professor. With all this information students have no way of not knowing what they are getting themselves into when they register for a course. Although, Syllabus Rate only offers syllabi, class, and professor reviews to students in the United States, whereas Rate My Professors offers students in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Although Rate My Professors is a good resource, Syllabus Rate appears to be an even better resource for college and university students.
