Last week I purchased a large tablecloth (60″ by 104″) for my dining room table. When I took it out of the package, it was very wrinkled, and I dreaded spending 20 minutes ironing the wrinkles out. Instead, I misted my tablecloth with water from my spray bottle and placed it in the dryer for 10 minutes on low heat.
My tablecloth was made of a spillproof fabric and when I sprayed it the water beaded up, so I wasn’t sure this method would work, but I was thrilled with the results. The key to success when using the no iron / dryer method to remove wrinkles from a tablecloth is to remove it immediately when the dryer cycle is finished.
When I removed my tablecloth from my dryer, it looked like I had just painstakingly removed all of the wrinkles the old fashioned way … with my iron. Actually, I think it looks even better than had I ironed it by hand. I will never iron another tablecloth again, because this method works!
The next time you need to iron a tablecloth (or other large item), don’t bother hauling out your ironing board and iron, just mist it lightly with water and set it in the dryer for a few minutes. In no time your table will look gorgeous! This picture shows what my tablecloth looked like just after removing it from the dryer and placing it on my table. Give it a try.
