Pros and Cons of Gay Marriage

by yak max

PROS of gay marriage:

1.) They get the happiness that everyone deserves. Everyone deserves to be happy, regardless of their gender, race, beliefs, etc. Think about how unhappy gays and lesbians may feel if they are forced to marry someone they did not feel an attraction for. How would you feel in their shoes? How would you feel if you were forced to marry someone, that you had no attraction for?

2.) They get the freedom. Freedom is supposed to be very important here in America. Yet gay people are fighting the same battle that African American fought to earn their rights. Why are gay people STILL fighting for their freedom? Doesn’t the Declaration of Independence state that, ”ALL men are created equal”?

3.) The only thing that matters in marriage is love. Neither religion nor your opinion matters; so why do insist some people insist on criticizing gay marriage?

4.) Marriage adoptions will increase. Since homosexual cannot have kids, a lot of them will consider adoption as an option. This will help the adoption rate go up, resulting in more children having actual families.

5.) Gay marriage will strengthen family values by allowing gay people to keep together their ”bonds” the same way heterosexual marriages do. One example is joint ownership.

6.)The government isn’t supposed to encourage religious beliefs. By not having gay marriages then they are supporting religious beliefs because gay marriage is not unconstitutional. Nowhere in the Declaration of Independence does it say that being gay is unconstitutional.

CONS of marriage:

1.) Gay marriage is considered a ”sin” and disgusting to a lot of people.

CONCLUSION:
Gay marriage should be allowed, regardless of anybody’s religious or personal beliefs. You do not have to particularly like gay marriage, but you should respect it. Nobody should be unhappy or treated differently because of your religious values. Not allowing gay marriage is discriminating against sexual orientation-which goes against the civil rights. There is no argument or reason that there should not be married. Homosexuals are fighting the same battle that African Americans fought for freedom. By now homosexuals should have obtained this freedom too. In the Declaration of Independence it states all men are created equal. Denying rights to marry two people of the same gender is a violation of the civil rights because it’s a civil status. So why is the states still denying rights to same sex marriage ? Only 17 states have gay marriage legalized.
