If you are going to the gym regularly, you probably have a few pet peeves yourself. Sharing equipment with others is not exciting, but it’s necessary. Here are some things you can do to make the gym experience better for all involved:
Don’t hold equipment hostage
You are probably watching TV or reading a magazine and completely forgot how long you’ve been on the treadmill. You look around and get evil eyes from others, but you don’t know why.To avoid making enemies at the gym, you can set an alarm on your phone. Some treadmills are set for a half an hour time, others for an hour and others just keep on going. You can also pick one of the workouts from the treadmill’s settings to keep record of your time. If the rules of your gym say you have to share you have no choice but to do so.
Wipe equipment down
When you are done with one equipment, don’t forget to wipe it down, even if you plan to return to it later. Some may have to use it in between your workout program. Most gyms provide sanitizing wipes, towels and cleaners. If they don’t, bring your own towel with you. I know this is tough, as you may think that all you do is wipe down equipment, but it’s the right thing to do and it keeps us all healthy.
Don’t shave in the steam room
Some men and women feel entitled to use the steam room as their shaving quarters, because the steam opens the pores and it helps get a clean shaving. However, the need to respect others is more important. Relax and enjoy the steam, you can shave later.
Return equipment to its original settings
We’ve probably all been there, trying to change the settings on some equipment and have no idea where to start. If you have to modify an equipment, always return it to its original settings to make it easier on others. It saves time and makes sharing more fun.
Don’t lift more than you can
Don’t try to impress anyone while in the gym. Do it afterwards, when you are not all sweaty. If you lift more than you know you can, you could get hurt and hurt others, break mirrors and other equipment. Use it the right way so that you can move on and let others use it as well.
When going to the gym always follow the rules set in place. They will keep you out of trouble. Share with others and you might just make some new friends.
