Writing a book is a life goal that some people rarely dare to attempt to try because of the amount of laborious work involved. Being an experienced ghost writer for four years, I have gone through and fully understand the process of what it takes to write a book and can tell you first hand most people aren’t aware that writing a book is relatively easy and minimal work is involved, if you are willing to plan every stage out and work accordingly.
The first step to writing a book is having an idea. Having an idea is probably the single most important step of writing a book. How can a book be written or published without an idea? When thinking of ideas to work with make sure they will be sufficient enough for how long your book is going to be. Also, make sure that your idea can attract an audience. If you write a book about how the aglet of a shoe lace affects every day life, then chances are your book will find few readers. Whereas if you write a book about the crimes in killings of the Zodiac killer or even a story about a mystical dragon who saves the lives of people on the verge of death, could allow someone to pick up interest in the book and want to pick it up.
One of the less important ideas, but still one that should be considered when writing a book is length. You must always know how long your book is going to be so that you can stretch your ideas accordingly. If you plan on writing a book that consists of 850 pages but only have enough ideas for about 20 pages, then it will be a struggle for you to continue. Plan out how many ideas you have and let it correspond with the length of your book. Also depending if you are writing a fantasy or crime novels you might begin to think that you want to do a series, in which they are multiple books. All of this all calls for planning.
The third most step in writing a book is the actual writing. Writing is probably the most important step in writing an idea after having an idea. Writing allows for the words to be read by another person. In this day and age when writing a book, most people type it, because It is easier to read, and more efficient for the author. Also, when writing the length of your story comes into play again. If you are planning to write a 600 page book it will obviously not be completed within the span of two days. You must plan ahead how many words or pages that will be typed each day in order to finish your book by its deadline.
In conclusion, writing a book is not a hard task as long as you plan, understand, and follow the necessary guidelines. After your book is finished the amount of achievement and self worth that you will feel from such a task will be overwhelming.
