A beach party is a great way to begin the summer, say goodbye to summer, or just a great way to enjoy a beautiful summer day. Here is everything you need and need to know in order to plan the ultimate beach bash.
Choose your venue. The first step in the beach party planning process is to choose the beach. Go through a list of your favorite local beaches. Choose a beach that is nearby so that your guests won’t have to travel too far, and choose the beach that is the cleanest and has the cleanest water. Visit the beach in person and choose the exact location of the party area. Be sure to get a permit for your party if you are planning a big bash.
Select the time. The timing of your party will affect the activities, as well as the food you serve. If your party is too late, it might be too dark for your guests to enjoy the water, and there is a good chance many of your guests may eat before they arrive at your party. It is best to begin your party in middle of the afternoon when the sun is still up and the water is still warm. Your party will also most likely still be going during the sunset, which will be an added bonus.
Choose the menu. Barbecues are the best way to go for beach party food. Stick to traditional barbecue foods and grill chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, and corn. Also serve fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as chips and dip. Have plenty of water, soda, and juices.
Send out your invitations. Make sure that your invitations alert your guests to the beach theme. Let them know that they are welcome to bring their favorite beach equipment. Include directions to the beach as well as any other information your guests should know such as parking specifications or restrictions.
Set up early. Get to the beach at least 3 hours before your party begins to set up. Give yourself enough time to decorate and get the party area ready. You will need plenty of time to set up the tables, food, grill, and beach accessories.
Bring beach supplies. Bring beach accessories and equipment for your guests to use such as
- Beach balls
- Beach chairs
- Shovels and pails for the kids
- Sun screen
Create a playlist. It wouldn’t be a party without good music, so set up a portable stereo and play upbeat dance music throughout the party.
