You don’t need to complete a week-long juice cleanse to rid your body of toxins. A simple week of treating your body right will help you destress, debloat and get in the right frame of mind. Eating simple, nourishing foods, drinking plenty of strategic fluids and moving around a little will get the job done. Here’s how.
For one week, fill your body with healthy, nourishing foods. This is not a diet! It’s clean eating, so think about whole, natural versions of foods. For breakfast, eat a slice of whole grain toast with almond butter and sliced strawberries. For lunch, a quinoa bowl with black beans, avocado, jicama and diced tomatoes will fill you up. Dinner should be lean protein, such as salmon, and green, non-starchy veggies. Snacks can include fruit, nuts or green juices. Swap coffee for green tea and drink lots of lemon water throughout the day. No alcohol!
Resolve to get 30 minutes of mindful movement each day for these seven days. Yoga, pilates, walking or hiking are all great examples. Bonus if you can get a friend or family member to join in! You don’t need a full hour-long heart pumping sweat session to reap the benefits of exercise. Try a family bike ride after dinner. Smaller amounts might encourage you to keep up this routine.
This is a perfect week to be a little nicer to yourself and to others. Get plenty of sleep so you can wake up refreshed. Turn off the TV or tablet and get out a favorite book. Schedule a massage or pedicure. Practice random acts of kindness . It may seem selfish, but taking a full week to focus on your mind and body will allow you to be a healthier, happier version of your best self. Reset with a full week of clean eating and living to re-energize yourself after a stressful period of time.
