Grammy Award Winning Artist Pharrell Williams launches his own clothing line and is Creative Director of “Bionic Yarn” in collaboration with denim brand G-Star Raw. What a great way to celebrate Fashion Week not only with the launch of Bionic Yarn but knowing what it represents and how it is was made. I had a great time at the press conference and blue carpet event for the launch of the new clothing line Bionic Yarn. In the press conference I learned the importance of cutting down on plastic use due to the harm it is doing to our environment. There was a presentation on how birds are dying because of pollution in the ocean.Birds are often exposed to plastic caps, cans, bottles more items that are often confused as food by the birds mothers will feeding their young babies. It was sad to see how we are killing and hurting our environment. How this has to do with Pharell’s new clothing line Bionic Yarn is that this the first high performance eco thread brand that represents the fourth generation yarn structure. This brand develops and manufactures premium yarns and fabrics made with fibres derived from recycled plastic bottles. How cool is that! I covered this event for the entertainment show On The Scene interviewing the famous artist and others in attendance like supermodel Tyson Beckford and the beautiful and talented Adrienne Bailon.
I asked Pharrell Williams why did he chose G-Star Raw as the brand to collaborate with for his own clothing label? Williams stated, they reached out to us and we thought why not do it. Supermodel Tyson Beckford was also in attendance and it was nice to interview him again since I had first seen him at the G-Star fashion event back in 2010. Tyson, shared with me he is a fan of the brand and was even dressed in G-star Raw denim attire. Beckford stated, it’s long lasting clothing too, fits well and it’s different. The beautiful Latina actress Adrienne Bailon was also wearing Bionic clothing themed raw for the oceans she was elated to be at the event and we got to see her beautiful jewelry which she will soon be launching with Effy jewelry.
This event took place at the Museum of Natural History it was great to be back at this beautiful place since I had not been there since I was very young. It was great interviewing Pharrell Williams too even under challenging situations of many people who were in attendance going crazy over the artist and we prove once again we get the job done which is gratifying always. This event was fun but also very educational which made it twice as great for me.
