I love to go to casinos. My first choice would definitely be Laughlin, Nevada for gambling, but since that is a 4 hour drive for me, I only get to go there on vacation. California is not a gambling-friendly state, so the only casinos that are legal in California are the Indian casinos. Pechanga Resort and Casino is located on the Pechanga Indian Reservation in Temecula, California. It is one of the twenty two Indian casinos in Southern California. I have been to most of them, but since Pechanga is the closest one to my house, it is usually the one that I go to.
Pechanga’s hotel is great. The rooms are really beautiful and always very clean. If you stay during the week, it will cost you about $160 plus tax, which really isn’t that bad considering how nice the rooms are. Staying on the weekend is another story. The only bad part about the hotel is that weekends are booked about three months in advance, and the prices of the rooms go up to about $350 per night, plus tax. If you plan on going to Pechanga on the weekend, I would suggest staying in another hotel close in the area, which will be a lot cheaper and will most likely have availability. Overall, from 1 to 10, I would rate the hotel at a 7.
As far as food goes at Pechanga, there are a few restaurants to choose from. Both the steakhouse and the Italian restaurants are really good, but the prices are outrageous. The Blazing Noodles restaurant is a little bit cheaper, but I didn’t think it was very good. There is also a food court with a couple of fast food places that are open 24 hours. The food court is usually where I go because it is relatively inexpensive and the food is good. Overall, I would rate dining at Pechanga at about a 5.
Pechanga’s casino is pretty large. There are two sides, one with mostly penny slots and the other with nickel slots and up. I have been to the casino more times than I could count and I have mixed feelings about it. There have been many times where I have left mad swearing that I won’t ever come back, but there have also been times that I have won a good amount of money. One time, I went there with $40 to play with and I left with $700 in my wallet. There is one thing about Pechanga that I really don’t like. During the week, they shut off half of the machines, so you are limited to what you can play. No other casino does this. It really makes me mad because some of the games that I like are on the side that gets shut off. Then when you go on the weekend, it is so crowded you can’t play them then either. I went the other day and they actually had about three quarters of the machines shut down, and since I had just driven an hour to get there, I was not happy. I have also found that a lot of times when you play, the machines just completely suck away your money. I know that when you gamble, you take a chance of losing, but it’s annoying when every single machine you sit down at doesn’t even let you play for a few minutes. Overall, between 1 and 10, I would rate the casino at a 4.
