Although many Giants fans were hoping for Eric Ebron to be joining the Giants team, overall their pick of Odell Beckham Jr. is receiving positive feedback. Adding a wide receiver to go along with Victor Cruz and Reuben Randle creates a very good receiving core for Eli Manning to throw to. And, Eli needs to have a good year in order to bounce back from last years debacle. So, is Beckham a good fit? Here are five facts to learn about Odell Beckham Jr.
1) Comes from an athletic family
Beckham’s father was a running back for LSU from 1989-1992. Meanwhile, his mother was a national track star for the tigers from 1991-1993. With parents like that, it’s no surprise that Odell not only became athletic, but was a standout receiver at LSU.
2) Paul Hornung Award
Odell received the Paul Hornung Award, which is awarded to a college football player who is considered the best overall athlete. Although he’s undersized, he makes up for it with his incredible athletic abilities and raw talent.
Many experts believe Beckham to be the most pro-ready receiver of this years draft class. Although Mike Evans and other receivers are certainly explosive and excellent players, people value the type of athleticism and mindset that Odell brings.
4) 2013 College Season
In the 2013 NCAA season, Beckham had an amazing year. He caught 59 passes for 1,152 yards and grabbed 8 touchdowns.
5) His Tattoo
One of his tattoos is of the Superdome in New Orleans. Specifically, he believes it to epitomize New Orleans as a whole and it keeps him reminded of where he is from.
