The largest expansion in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom’s history is finally complete with the opening of the final attraction in the New Fantasyland, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, on May 28th.
The first phase of the New Fantasyland opened on December 2012 with the opening of two new themed areas in Fantasyland, The Enchanted Forest and Storybook Circus. In The Enchanted Forest, visitors are transported into classic Disney stories such as Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. While in Storybook Circus, visitors find themselves in the middle of all the magic of the circus that’s come to town including a flying elephant named Dumbo.
While New Fantasyland has several new rides, shows, and places to eat, here are the three things that you’ll want to be sure to see.
Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid
Journey into a shipwreck and then under the sea to with Ariel and all of her friends in the magical adventure. Before you dive fathoms below in your clam shell, you’ll meet the always lovable Scuttle who will keep you entertained in the waiting area for this ride.
Once on board your clam shell, you’ll journey to the bottom the the sea to join Sebastian in a musical extravaganza to convince Ariel “it’s better down where it’s better” as she yearns to live. Next up, Flotsam and Jetsam lure you into the lair of Ursula the sea witch where Ariel makes a deal to give up her voice.
Back on the surface you’ll see Prince Eric and Ariel court each other before the “happily ever after” ending where Triton joins Ariel and Prince Eric.
Be Our Guest Restaurant
Have you ever dined in a castle? At the Magic Kingdom you can. You can feel like a princess in Cinderella Castle and now in the Beast’s enchanted French castle complete with the magic rose.
From the moment you enter Be Our Guest Restaurant, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped in to a 17th century fairy tale. With floor-to-ceiling arched windows overlooking the French countryside, diners will dine in one of the castle’s rooms such as the West Wing, the Rose Gallery or the grand 2-story Ballroom.
And what makes this restaurant unique from other Walt Disney World restaurants is that by day, it’s a quick service restaurant where you’ll order your meal on a touch screen and then have a seat where the meal will be served at your table using real silverware and china. And come nightfall, Be Our Guest Restaurant becomes a full service restaurant where you’ll “put the service to the test” and be treated to an delightful meal.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work we go in New Fantasyland’s wildest new adventure, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Climb aboard a mine car and hang on as you twist and turn, rise and fall over, under, and through the Seven Dwarf’s mine. And along the way, you’ll encounter the Seven Dwarfs as the work in the mine.
