New Characters in Transformers Age of Extinction

by yak max

The fourth installment of the ongoing Transformers saga promises to be one of the blockbuster hits of the 2014 summer season. Age of Extinction proves to go against some of the convention that made the other Transformer movies incredibly successful and introduces a number of new characters and new cast members. In fact, few of the cast will be returning for this next movie.

The movie marks a significant change in the cast but the story still revolves around the ongoing struggle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. The battle originated on the distant planet of Cybertron but it has carried on to earth. The following are some of the new characters who will appear in Age of Extinction.

Joshua (Stanley Tucci)

Tucci plays a scientist and robotics designer who wants to create his own line of robots. The trailer shows Joshua examining a rare metal that has unstable molecular properties and reveals that it is material from a Transformer. The discovery of the unusual metal allows Joshua to pursue the creation of his own robots. Evidence from the trailer implies that he is successful and this leads to humanly created Transformers.

Cade Yeager (Mark Walberg)

Mark Walberg was recruited to take on the lead role in the movie and plays Cade Yeager. Yeager is a struggling inventor who buys vehicles for scrap to sell to provide for his family. Yeager makes a purchase that will change his life. He buys a ruined semi-truck that proves to be more than meets the eye. Yeager unwittingly purchases the remains of Optimus Prime and works to reactivate the deactivated Autobot. Circumstances are not revealed about how Prime got into the condition Yeager discovers him in but we can assume that the human population is no longer in support of Transformer presence on earth.

Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer)

Harold Attinger is a somewhat paranoid government official who is clearly looking to the end of the Transformers on earth. One trailer shows Attinger making the statement that the age of the Transformers is over. Clearly there is some form of conspiracy working against the Autobots that could be linked to the destruction caused in the city of Chicago from the previous movie. The trailer also shows a statement from Optimus Prime: After all we have done, humans are hunting us. It seems that these two statements may be linked.

Tessa Yeager (Nikola Peltz)

Tessa Yeager is the daughter of Cade and is the newest female character to grace the Transformers films. Tessa seems to be angry with her father over purchasing junk. The junk she describes is Optimus Prime. The trailers reveal Tessa in several scenes that imply she is caught in the crossfire of an Autobot and Decepticon battle. There is little else revealed about the character but clearly Yeager seems to take the place of other similar female characters in the previous films.

Savoy (Titus Welliver)

Savoy is the leader of government agents sent to investigate the possible reappearance of Optimus Prime. Savoy begins to question Cade Yeager when Optimus Prime intervenes. Savoy may have been sent to investigate by Harold Attinger.

Some speculate that the plot has been kept from the main stream media to insure the best movie going experience possible. While he plot details are somewhat thin about the Age of Extinction but one thing is crystal clear, the Transformers are back. The Age of Extinction comes to theaters on June 27, 2014.
