Decorating your home for Easter does not have to be a grand affair. In fact, one of the simplest ways to decorate is to make crafts with your children. The house gets decorated and you get to spend quality time creating master works of art with the kids. Craft materials do not have to be expensive most of the items can be found at your dollar store.
Construction paper, color of your choice
Crayons, markers or paints depending on what you are most comfortable using.
Garland is one of the easiest hanging decorations to make. Garland can be as simple as creating paper chains from construction paper. Or you can create your own special themed garland with construction paper, crayons and a little creativity. First fold the construction paper pleated style like an accordion. I always draw the image out first but I do know a lot of people just free hand the cut. Cut the image out that you would like, just remember to certain that the garland is attached at some point in the design. The garland can be in the shape of an egg, a bunny or the design of your choice. Decorate the garland and hang up in a hallway or above a door.
Crayons, markers or paints
Scissors and paper punch
Take a piece of construction paper and cut into the shape of an egg. Next decorate the egg shape. Decorating can be as simple as coloring the egg in or if you prefer you can use other materials. I have used macaroni, split peas, buttons, yarn, scrap paper and if you are really brave you can use glitter. Once the egg drawing is dried, punch a hole in the top, and hang up with a piece of yarn.
Paper Roll Bunnies
Construction paper or paint
Pink index cards
Take a toilet paper roll or a towel roll and either paint the roll or cover with construction paper. I find covering the roll with construction paper is easier. Next, decorate your bunny, place the eyes, cut out whiskers and nose out of construction paper and glue on to the roll. I use pink index cards for the ears in order to keep them standing up straight. But you can substitute the index cards for construction paper. In fact if you do not have goggle eyes on hand, you can use construction paper to create the bunny eyes. And, for the final touch glue a cotton ball on the back for his tail. The bunnies can be placed throughout the house.
