I like to do things the natural way … but not always. I confess that I’m fickle when it comes to natural. If I find something that I can buy in a store that works, doesn’t take a huge amount of effort on my part, and is inexpensive, I’m all for it. I’ve used some really good (and not so good) facial peels in my life, and here are some of the best I’ve found. Well, that’s not the whole story. Confession, I’m cheap, so here are the best ones I’ve found that can easily be found online … and are all under $25!
I miss my Avon lady. I moved recently, and, well, I miss her. This facial peel is one I tried not too long ago because I’d heard it got good reviews. It’s Avon Anew Clinical Advanced Retexturizing Peel, and it only costs about $25 (not too bad, considering the exorbitant costs of some others). This one is easy because it has pre-soaked pads that strip away those dead skin cells and leave skin smooth and uniform. At TotalBeauty.com the average reviewer rating on this DIY peel is 8.6! (I’m not surprised, ’cause I liked this one myself.)
This one got fantastic reviews on TotalBeauty.com, where the average reviewer gave it a 9.2 … and I have to agree, it’s “wonderful for the price.” The full name is Principal Secret Reclaim Age Braker Enzyme Mask and Peel. This facial peel is easy to use, and it removes dead skin cell, leaving skin bright. My skin is dry, now that I’m older, and I found this one to also leave my skin moist. I’ve heard this DIY peel is good for combination skin, but honestly, since I don’t have combination skin anymore, I can’t speak to that. This one’s only $19.95.
Cinnamon Orange Spiced All Natural Facial Scrub:
All right, I tried this one because it was only $3.75 … and it worked great! Here’s the full name: Cinnamon Orange Spiced All Natural Facial Scrub with Cotton Scrubby, Handmade with Organic Oatmeal and Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. (Shew!) Also, I tried this facial peel because I had done a little research on my own and found that the ingredients … goat milk soap, oatmeal, cinnamon, orange peel … are all great for the skin and help to slough off dead skin cells.
Yogurt, honey, lemon, and lime:
I am not someone who is in love with yogurt. In fact, I hate it. But I will use it on my face if I think it will do any good. I had read this one was good for age spots. Hold on! I’m not old enough quite yet for age spots, but I tried it because I heard it was also good at evening out skin tone (which is, I guess, the reason it’s good for age spots). Mix two ounces of plain yogurt with two tablespoons honey and the juice from one lemon and one lime. Apply the mixture to your face, neck and chest, leave on for 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water. Price? Way under $25!
I tried this facial peel because, of course, it had a great price of $24.99, and because I had read that sea algae are great for the skin. I noticed my skin was tighter and smoother after using it. The sea algae give it some great minerals your skin needs, and there’s collagen in it to prevent aging. (Hope it’s not too late for me on that one!)
