I am not a heavy beer drinker, but occasionally, especially during hot days in spring, I would have a strong craving for a bottle or two of a nice cold beer. I am very picky about my beer selection, though. I would not drink just any beer.
I have my favorites and they are: Delirium Tremens, Honey Brown, Bud Light Lime, Baltic Thunder, and Blue Moon.
Delirium Tremens is my number one choice for a beer.
It is produced in Belgium and is not your regular, everyday American beer you would enjoy while cutting the grass on your backyard during hot spring or summer days or hanging out with friends. It is a bubbly, tasty, citrusy and spicy beer. It tastes almost like champagne or a sparkling wine. When you pour it in a glass you will see white, milky, and creamy foam that will persist for sometime. This superb tasting experience comes at a cost – $6.99 per 11.2 oz bottle (sold at Binny’s Beverage Depot).
Honey Brown is another great tasting beer.
As the name states this beer has a hint of honey, which I personally love. According to some ancient belief, honey is an aphrodisiac. The beer is light, amber color, and goes down smoothly. You would not feel bloating and heavy after drinking it. It is produced by Dundee Brewing Company and comes in glass bottles and cans. The price per 750 ml bottle ranges from $2 to $12, average: $3. It is sold at most local grocery stores, such as: Jewel, CVS, and Binny’s.
Bud Light Lime is a refreshing drink that is perfect for spring.
It is a light beer with the taste of fresh lime. It is light in color and comes in glass bottles and cans. If you like lime or lemon taste, you would enjoy this American beer. It is produced by Anheuser-Busch brewer at St. Louis. Prices vary. It is sold at Target, Jewel, CVS, and Binny’s.
Baltic Thunder is heavy and dark like its name states.
This beer comes from the Baltic states and is on acquired taste. It is dark almost black in color, heavy and thick with the white foam as a finishing touch. It exhibits the bittersweet taste. This unique beer comes from Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic countries, and Kazakhstan. It could be found at Binny’s and Russian restaurants in Chicago. Prices vary.
Blue Moon is springy, bubbly and refreshing.
It comes from Belgium like Delirium Tremens, but this is the only common point those two have. They are nothing alike in terms of taste. Blue Moon Belgian White has connotation of orange peel, coriander, and wheat. It has a smooth creamy finish. It is available in cans, bottles, and Draft. You can find this beer in the most grocery stores, such as: Jewel, CVS, and Binny’s.
