My wife and I are former owners of a 30-minute woman’s gym. We are very well informed on various weight loss programs. We learned that most diets don’t work. After the diets are finished, the weight loss is gained back and more. Exercise helps with weight loss, but if it is stopped or reduced, weight tends to be gained back.
My Weight Gain Problem
In fall and winter I would gain weight. In spring and summer I would loose most but not all of the weight gain. I was well on my way to 250 pounds. No matter what my activity level or calorie intake I would just keep gaining. Last year was different. I lost 20 pounds over eight months and have kept it off all winter. How did I do it? By accident!
My Weight Loss Success
I have a family history of cancer. Last winter I read some positive studies on cancer prevention and treatment with resveratrol. I started taking 200 mg of Solgar resveratrol last January, 2013. I started loosing my usual winter weight. In May I had the flue and lost 10 pounds in one month. I thought it was just the flue but, after I got better, I continued to lose weight. I did some research and discovered studies and blogs with similar weight loss results.
My Winter Weight Gain
Where most diets fail is keeping the weight off. This fall my weight loss stopped at 20 pounds. I expected to gain some weight back. Even with holiday feasting I have not gained back one pound! For my height (6’5”), 225 pounds is in a healthy range. I am very happy to stay at this weight.
How Resveratrol Helps With Weight Loss
- Resveratrol Mimics the effects of a Calorie restricted diet according to the results of a human study published in the journal Cell Metabolism
- Resveratrol reduces seasonal weight gain, increases resting metabolic rate, and increases satiety (feeling full) as reported in this research article
Resveratrol is actively being studied. Not many studies have been with human subjects. Most doctors can’t recommend resveratrol because of this. I believe that this supplement has great value for its health benefits and I will continue to take it. I am not involved in the supplement industry or receiving any compensation from any companies connected with supplements. I have published two articles about my experience with taking resveratrol:
