It’s simple to be fashionable in the summer. Without all the bulky layers, it’s easy to find a few pieces that work together. Bright colors, sundresses and a great swimsuit are some key pieces to shop for this season. Here are some of the must-have summer fashion trends for 2014.
Brighten Up with Tangerine
Instyle says tangerine is one of the hottest colors of the season. Try pairing this pleated chiffon skirt from Michael Kors with a neutral top and strappy shoes. For a trip to the beach or lake, you might want to throw on this Volcom Not so Classic Lace Dress. On the other hand, some people don’t like to wear bright colors. Thus, if you’re afraid of looking like an orange, you might try a tangerine belt around a black or white dress. Even some orange polish on your hands or toes can add some color to your summer ensemble. If you don’t want to wear orange, try fuchsia or bright yellow.
Those who like comfortable clothes are in luck this summer. Instyle says that soft drawstring pants are also trendy for summer. For cool summer nights, I like it these AE jogger sweatpants. For casual events, you can wear a tank top and flip flops with your comfy pants. For nicer occasions, try a gauze or soft pant with some sandal wedges, a silky t-shirt and a shiny clutch.
Huffington Post lists shiny fabrics as one of the top 2014 summer fashion trends. You can go bold with some gold metallic shorts, or subtle with a dress that has shiny embroidery. For a night on the town, try this ombre foil dress from Free People. Overall, any fabric with sheen will work.
Bold prints are popping up everywhere. Many of the bold prints from the runway featured florals or other botanical prints. From maxi skirts to blouses, one bold print must make it into your closet this summer. With such a bold print, you can wear understated shoes and other accessories with your outfit. I love the bird print on this Peralta flared dress from Anthropologie.
I suppose white will always be on-trend for summer. I especially love white lace, eyelet and laser cut fashions. This laser-cut lace tank from Banana Republic would look nice with almost anything. You can never go wrong with a white sundress either (as long as it’s not see-through).
Summer 2014 fashion trends are definitely heating up!
