Ten years ago when the scandal made headlines of the affair between President Bill Clinton and then unknown White House intern Monica Lewinsky it would be the biggest scandal in American history which later changed the face of how interns at the White House conducted themselves. Monica Lewinsky had been basically a naive young college girl who fell in love with a married man. She’s just one of millions of women who fall in love and have illicit relationships with married and attached men.
It also pointed out a strong message to women everywhere to leave married and attached men alone. Monica spent a good deal of time in the spotlight being the woman at the center of this scandal and knowing that she would not be forgotten as the woman who slept with the president. Now, at the age of 40 Lewinsky has just now started talking about the affair herself when author Andrew Morton released the authorized biography called Monica’s Story which details Lewinsky’s life in details most didn’t know about including Lewinsky’s affair and subsequent pregnancy and miscarriage.
Why Lewinsky is talking about this now is anyone’s guess and most think that it’s because she needs money and this is nothing new since her handbag business went south and much of what she got off her book with Andrew Morton was not as successful. This won’t have much an effect on Clinton who has since moved on with his work for his foundation, the marriage of his only child Chelsea and now his role as a soon to be grandfather. Why Lewinsky decided to come out now 10 years later to talk about this just gives people the impression that she’s looking to get money out of the entire deal. It’s not benefiting her because Lewinsky and other women who gained fame as being the mistresses of someone famous have nothing to really gain from trying to cash in on a scandal that has long since fizzled out. The fact that Lewinsky admits to being suicidal over Clinton just tells the world she’s not mentally stable because no married man is worth the mental collapse.
It’s just the fact that Lewinsky’s revelation coming 10 years after the scandal had long ended and the Clintons have moved on and it didn’t affect Hillary Clinton’s position being elected as a New York state senator and possible 2016 Presidential candidate. Monica’s looking for some financial means since she’s tapped out and thinking she can get one more run with her story to get something financial from it. Her reputation has been tainted so it’s rather hard for her to secure a job when you’ll always be known as the woman who slept with the president. She’s an example to women out there as to why you need to leave married and involved men alone because you don’t get anything out of it except a broken heart and loneliness. The fact that a respectable publication like Vanity Fair would even run something like this is beyond one’s way of thinking. Yet the article is walking on still pointing fingers at the President when Lewinsky is failing to realize that it takes two to tango. She should have had sense to say no, but when you’re young and immature that’s not something you think about at that given moment.
How is Lewinsky suffering when she’s only suffering the broken heart for a man who would never be hers and this is typical of women who get involved with married men to feel this way when they’re rejected permanently. There’s a lot to be said for how she’s trying to make herself to be the victim instead of the other half of the participating party in the affair. The fact that she’s looking for sympathy at this point just reeks the stench of lacking accountability in the matter. Now Lewinsky’s next move is to be of help to those who have been humiliated in the media….this makes anyone want to scratch their head as to why she’s trying to help those who have been degraded and humiliated in the public arena. It’s sad and pathetic that Monica’s using her tainted reputation to help people who put themselves in the predicament of being thrust into the public spotlight to where they’ve sealed their reputations into the public media forever.
However this plays out…one thing’s for sure Monica won’t gain too much more out of a story and situation that’s been beaten more times than an old rug on the clothesline. She needs to move on and realize now it’s over she has to get a life and stop trying to rehash what has been a done deal since 1998 when the story broke out that she had an affair with the President of the United States when she was an intern at the White House. In the decade since this happened has there been any part of that for which Monica has clearly moved on from? It doesn’t seem like it if she’s still trying to tell her story for the umpteenth time now and she still refuses to take some responsibility in what she brought on herself. If she had sense like a respectable adult she wouldn’t have let the situation get as far as it did she would have walked away. She was thinking about how working at the White House would look good on her job resume more than anything else so she went along with the program just to maintain her chances of a good job.
Again this is the biggest lesson to any woman thinking about having an affair with a married man and that its not worth your credibility and respectability as a woman. Had Monica thought about her life then when she could have done things differently the life she would be leading would have been much different she would have been married with a family, but obviously it didn’t exactly play itself out for her 10 years later when the world long since forgot about her as the woman who slept with the President of the United States and will forever be linked to that situation, but in the end doesn’t she think that it’s time to move forward and not keep telling this story again.
