Chapter 5 of season 2 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance was released on May 1st, 2014. Like every chapter of season 2 before it, you receive a unique alternate costume if you get 100% mastery for the chapter. The reward for chapter 5 is the Transian Scarlet Witch outfit, which offers Scarlet Witch a new special ability and the ability to play as an infiltrator. The following mastery guide for chapter 5 of season 2 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance will help you earn this outfit.
Tasks – Like every previous chapter of season 2, this one has 36 tasks which you must complete to master the chapter. There are 18 main tasks which you unlock as you complete the previous task and 18 side tasks that you unlock when you complete a mission for the first time. In general, tasks do not need to be completed in this chapter specifically, unless the task requires you to defeat a boss, mini-boss, or epic boss, but many tasks are easier to defeat in this chapter. The following are some of the more difficult or tricky tasks.
Use Ares’ Modern Warfare 5 Times – If you don’t own Ares, this is very tough. Modern Warfare has a two round cooldown. If you don’t own him, team up with him, face off against Hydro-Man in mission 2 and lose in order to complete the task before this one. Then face Hydro-Man and fight with nothing but Modern Warfare. Between Hydro-Man and Taskmaster, you should be able to complete this task before completing the mission.
Squirrel Girl – You need to fight with Squirrel Girl for one task and then use Furry Fury 3 times for the next task. This is particularly difficult because you need to do this without defeating Bullseye or you will have no chance of completing the next task which requires you to defeat The Hood with a score of 85,000. Just repeatedly lose to Bullseye and you should be safe for the first two tasks. For the last task, you need as much power as you can muster. The only way to earn a score of 85,000 is to two-bird the battle, have near perfect health, get multiple one-shot kills or overkills, and most importantly, win in as few rounds as possible. If you want a chance, you need to spam items and hope for a little luck.
Deployments – The general advice for deployments also applies to this chapter. You want to start any and all deployments as soon as they are available in order to complete them. If you want to further a deployment without completing a threat, you can fight a heroic battle or an incursion. In order to complete all deployments in this chapter you will need Red Hulk, Valkyrie, Rescue, Spider-Man, Human Torch, Cable, Nightcrawler, Angel, Fandral, Quicksilver, Vision, Hulk, Havok, Punisher, and Hercules to unlock mission 6.
Incursions – Incursions are relatively easy because you can use items and a distress call. Additionally, you can keep backing out of the incursion until you see a team you want to fight. Enough people use weak defensive PvP teams that you should eventually see a pushover team. There are seven incursions total, one in each mission and two in mission 6.
Heroic Battles – There are six heroic battles you need to complete and you will need to own Hercules to unlock the heroic battle in mission 6. The other heroes you need to own are She-Hulk, Thundra, Tigra, Kitty Pryde, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Thing, Bishop, Havok, Fantomex, Spiral, Psylocke, and Red Hulk. For most of these battles owning the hero isn’t enough. You generally need all heroes to be at least level 9 with good ISOs attached.
Challenge Mode – Challenge mode requires you to complete all six missions at a higher difficulty. Since score doesn’t matter in these modes, face each of the mini-bosses separately to ease the difficulty and face easy threats whenever possible. Deploying as often as possible will also make this much easier.
Epic Bosses – Like every previous chapter in this season, chapter 5 has two epic bosses. These bosses are found in mission 5 and mission 6. You need to own Vision, Fandral, Quicksilver, Hercules, Punisher, Hulk, and Havok to be able to unlock these bosses. Like every other epic boss in the game, you also need to complete every deployment and threat in the mission to unlock the boss, but you don’t need to complete incursions or heroic battles.
