In Marvel Puzzle Quest Dark Reign, strength is often decided by a character’s powers and how they influence the game board. Although luck is a factor, certain characters can help dominate the board most of the time. Prioritizing your targets a key skill for winning matches.
Black Widow (Grey Suit) isn’t a priority threat like the other Widow versions. The other Black Widow characters; Original, Modern, and Yelena Belova all steal your Attack Points (AP). Unless there is a stronger threat on the enemy team, knock their Widow out first. Original Widow is particularly dangerous, as she also has a strong healing power.
Storm (Modern) is the best 1-star character. Paired with any AP stealing Black Widow, Modern Storm sometimes creates an endless loop, wiping out the enemy team without allowing them another turn. Even without a Widow on her team, Modern Storm can fill the board with attack tiles. Don’t let her get any momentum; down her first before any other character.
Storm (Classic) is also a priority target. Don’t start hacking away at characters with high health points until you knock out Classic Storm, her passive yellow power will drain your whole team’s life points. Downing either version of Storm takes priority over any Widow.
Daken is the best of all Wolverine characters in Marvel Puzzle Quest, considering his cost to level up. Daken’s max level is much lower than other Wolverine characters, but he can be a deadly disaster for his opponents if he isn’t eliminated quickly. Don’t prioritize Daken ahead of any Storm or Black Widow (except for Grey Suit). Attack Daken ahead of any other Wolverine. Like the various Widow and Storm characters, Daken will often be a weaker member of an opposing team, but will fill up the board with strike tiles while you chip away at stronger characters. If your team relies on green AP, then Daken is even higher priority.
Avoid attacking Daken first if you don’t have a character on your team strong enough to do substantial damage with a basic three gem combo. His healing power will keep you from gaining any ground. While you try to build AP for a super attack, your enemy chips away at your characters life and fills the board with strike tiles.
The only character higher priority than Bullseye is Modern Storm. In all other situations attack Bullseye first. His protect tile generating power is arguably the best in the game. In a few turns, he can reduce damage from most attacks to almost zero.
Iron Man (Model 38)
Iron Man 38’s Armored Assault power can litter the board with protect tiles. Attack any Widows, Storms, or Daken first, but keep Iron Man in mind ahead of other characters, Armored Assault still makes him a priority threat in Marvel Puzzle Quest.
Joe Capristo placed first in the Blind Justice and Fresh Cut Special Events. He regularly places in the Top 50.
