You probably have a closet full of clothes and shoes with no room to spare. When you do your Spring cleaning, clean out your closet as well. When going through stuff you will find out that there are things that you don’t even wear anymore, so here is what you should do to make room for your Spring clothes:
Give stuff away – Don’t hold on to everything. Fashion changes, your body changes but the need to buy more will always be there. If it’s hard to decide on what clothes you should let go, start with the uncomfortable ones. There is no reason why your closet should be packed with something that you don’t like to wear. Secondly, give away the outdated fashion items. Someone may could still use them, but if you like to shop it probably won’t be you.
Pack Winter clothes away – Jackets, bulky sweaters, hats, boots, gloves and scarfs should be stored away to make more room for your Spring clothes. However, keep the light jackets in the closet for the cold mornings and evenings. After you remove the Winter clothes from your closet you will feel much better about dressing up. Now, you can see what you have in your closet and it won’t take you forever to get ready.
Organize your closet by colors or outfits – The best way to organize your closet is to hang everything by colors or outfits. Separating your clothes by colors makes it easy to pick what goes together. For example, keep all the pink shirts in one area and all the dresses in another. Do the same with your shoes. Your Spring shoes, which are the brighter colors, should be lined up underneath the clothes rack. This way you can put an outfit together in no time.
Shop for Spring items – If you already organized your closet, you can see what you have and what you need to go buy. Maybe you gave away too many t-shirts or too many shoes. Make a list of the colors and the items you need to make sure you have a full Spring wardrobe.You may even want to browse through some fashion magazines to get ideas for your new clothes and shoes. When shopping don’t stick to just one color. Try on clothes that you wouldn’t usually consider. You may just surprise yourself how good you look in a light green skirt or a yellow dress. Another good tip is to stay away from bright colors, like hot pink or lime green. These clothes are harder to match up and they don’t always look right.
If you made room in your closet for your colorful clothes, there is nothing more to do but to wear them and enjoy the Spring.
