What do you do when the offers stop coming in? You resort to reality television. At least, that’s what it LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian seem to have done. Their new reality show “LeAnn and Eddie” airs on July 17 on VH1, and the previews are quite revealing.
If you’re not familiar with this duo, let me introduce you. LeAnn Rimes is a 31-year-old country singer who crossed over into the pop world. She’s started singing at the age of 5 and is best known for her song “How Do I Live,” which was also on her number 1 debuting album “Light Up My Life.” Eddie Cibrian is a 41-year-old actor who is known for his roles in CSI: Miami, Third Watch and Sunset Beach, and might be better known for being the ex-husband of Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Brandi Glanville. Both Eddie and LeAnn were married to other people when they met. After having a controversial affair that received plenty of media coverage, they got married in April of 2011, leaving behind scorned exes.
The Reality Show
Rather than admitting that their popularity is fading, Eddie and LeAnn claim that they did the reality show to set the record straight. There have been many rumors in the press regarding their relationship. One moment they’re getting a divorce and the next LeAnn is made out to be an anorexic. Whether their reality show will be a success remains to be seen. From the trailer, it doesn’t look too promising, because it’s missing the main ingredient to attract viewers. Drama!
Eddie and LeAnn give of the appearance that they have the perfect relationship and that they are madly in love. They’re talking about having babies and are constantly smiling and praising each other. Although this is great for them, to the viewers, this might quickly become boring. Their only way they might ensure that the show gets picked up for another season might be by playing the Brandi card. Cibiran’s ex-wife has made it clear many times that she dislikes LeAnn and doesn’t like having her around her two boys. The ladies frequently lash out at each other thru social media. They mention Brandi frequently throughout the trailer for the reality show, and if they’re smart, they continue to do so.
The couple’s relationship mimics that of another celebrity couple, Tori spelling and Dean McDermott. Both also cheated on their spouses with each other before getting married. Now look at the boat they’re in. Although they’re going through a terrible time in their lives, it makes for great reality television. Let’s hope Eddie and LeAnn don’t fall victim to the reality-show curse. However, if they do, we can surely look forward to some explosive television.
