A leader’s first order of business is serving people. Service leadership requires many different qualities, the desire to serve is first among them. If you want to enhance your leadership character, the information in this article will prove an asset.

When you want to lead, keep your good character in mind. If you think that a decision choice is wrong, avoid that choice. Follow your character to make the most moral choice.
Do not become preoccupied with your position of authority above all who share the work with you. Members of the team responsible for getting the work done will appreciate being able to respect the leader who cares about them, their welfare, quality team building, and not solely involved in self – worship. Leadership’s design engages special responsibility. It does not seek special privilege.
Tenacity and commitment are important skills for great leadership. When everything goes wrong, the whole team will be looking to you for cues for how to respond. As a leader, you should have proactive plans in place necessary to develop solutions for challenges that can develop. When you are alert and persistently engaged with the team, the team is motivated to give their highest quality service.
You can compete with other businesses and still uphold your work ethic. When the competition engages in questionable practices, look for other ways to compete with them always focused on doing the right thing. If you find an innovative way to do business, you will be much prouder of your choice.
Always be prepared when speaking to people on your team. Proactively consider questions you may be asked. Prepare quality responses before questions asked. Your team is going to respect the fact that you are respectful of their needs for information and answers to questions they need. This is a time saving skill of the effective leader and establishes a tone of security. Remember, it is your privilege to serve the role of leadership.
Acknowledge mistakes quickly. Exceptional leaders make mistakes. Great leaders recognize their mistakes, learn from them and use the experience to help others avoid them. It shows you are continuing to learn just like everyone else. This will gain you more respect.
Use your role as the leader who serves with the team to build a stronger team. Be available when needed and trust the team to get the job done without having to totally depend on you too often.
You should be sincere and confident when interacting with others. Be careful not to be arrogant. Instead, assert confidence. People are distrustful of those who are arrogant. Honesty builds a better relationship at the workplace. Being insincere is obvious to employees, so try to be sincere and honest when you speak to them.
Be and continue to become the best leader who serves possible. Remember, leadership design is to manage special responsibility, not enjoy special privilege.
