Everyone wants to get fit, and we all know the only reason to accomplish that is getting the best training in physical fitness possible. Not all of us are the gym or home gym kind of people and so the only option would be to buy workout DVD’s. Sometimes it’s hard figuring out which DVD is best for your fitness level and many of us have to go through trial and error until we find the right one. This has happened to me plenty of times….that is, until I found Shaun T. Shaun T. has been known for going all out when it comes to his fitness routines, and he definitely rose to the occasion when he created his Insanity workouts. This is perhaps the ONLY workout program that rivals P90x.
Many people mistakenly think Insanity is nothing but cardio, but this isn’t true at all. Shaun T. has specifically designed Insanity to give you plenty of cardio but it also has strength and resistance blended into it, which is essential for anyone who wants to get in shape. It also has portions where you work on your flexibility and balance, incorporating this and many other aspects with sports specific training as a bonus.
For anyone who has done Insanity, you’ll know that at first glance, it’s nearly impossible to keep up with those workouts. Shaun T. goes hard, forcing you to go above and beyond anything you’ve ever done just to get you in the best shape of your life. It’s not so farfetched that you’ll end up feeling like you want to quit because it seems like it’s too much. Not to worry. There are plenty of tips for you to keep in mind so that you’ll be able to keep up and get in shape in no time at all.
Like any workout regimen, the first thing you need to consider is your own fitness level as well as any conditions you may have that you’ll have to consider when it comes to doing workouts. Some medical conditions may prevent you from doing such a strenuous workout and therefore you have to talk to your doctor first. This will help guarantee whether or not you’ll be able to handle it. If your doctor recommends that you not do it, it’s best to consider another option for getting in shape.
Insanity is not for everyone. It takes a strong commitment to stay dedicated to it. Are you a beginner, intermediate, or advanced? This is best to determine so you’ll know what to expect from your body when doing the Insanity workouts. It’s also best to remember that even if you are in shape, it won’t matter. Insanity is designed to give even the most fit people a run for their money. Can you handle that?
Insanity is extremely fast paced. The best thing for you to know is that it’s okay to go at your own pace. If you’re going slower than the people on the DVD, don’t be ashamed of that. Insanity is not about keeping up with everyone else. It’s about going at your pace and progressing as time goes on. Even if you have to take more breaks than what you see in the workouts, that’s okay too. The key is not stopping or giving up. Once you get your second wind, get right back into it. Pushing yourself is key, but you don’t have to go so far as to make yourself get sick. Don’t ever do that.
Don’t Press Pause:
This will slow you down and you don’t want that. Pressing pause when you become tired will, no doubt, be very tempting. But don’t do it. When you press pause, you’re setting yourself up for slacking off more than you would if you let the DVD continue to run. The last thing you want to do when getting in shape is find any reason to not give it your all. So why press pause and sit down longer than necessary? Insanity is all about pushing yourself, and you’ll only do that if you keep going, while pacing yourself at the same time. As Shaun T. would say, “dig deeper!” So when you have to rest, let the DVD go, and just continue working out when you get your breath back. Always challenge yourself.
Push Yourself/Dig Deeper:
As mentioned above, it’s always good to give yourself a challenge. Soon you’ll begin to see that you won’t have to take as many breaks as you did when you first started out. When you push yourself, you’ll be getting into better and better shape, and what makes this even better is you never get bored with Insanity like you do with other workouts. The challenge keeps you wanting more. You can’t lose!
Don’t give up in the beginning because you think it’s too hard or fast paced. Do what you can, adding a little bit more every single day. Keep that strong, positive attitude in mind, and you’ll never fail. Soon you’ll be able to move on from Insanity to Insanity: The Asylum and Focus T25.
To help yourself recover from your workouts and not end up being so sore, it’s a good idea to purchase Results and Recovery Formula and/or E&E (Energy and Endurance). These things will help keep your energy levels up and also give you other benefits as well.
Also be sure to follow the nutrition guide that comes with the DVD program. When you’re trying to get in shape, you always have to keep your nutrition in mind. It’s important to eat healthy so you can get even better results.
