Juan Pablo – Thank You for Keeping the Real in Reality

June 26, 2014

No longer will I get lost in the lust that is “The Bachelor”. No more cat fights, steamy love scenes, snide comments, or romantic dates for me. I rooted, like all of you, for my favorite contestant as if she were my winning horse in the Kentucky Derby; and in the end I feel as if I won. As we say adios to the ups and downs of this season of “The Bachelor” and to the controversial, Juan Pablo, I would like to remind everyone of the reality in which most of us John and Jane Doe’s actually live. In real life a man and woman take months, if not years to come together and fall in love. There are no general rules or guidelines by which we must conform to be successful at such endeavors, we all just sort of bump and grind our way through and hope and pray we find THE ONE!

To all you Juan Pablo haters: let me pull you all back down to earth. At the end of the day, for you this is just a favored pastime, a way to spend an evening with friends and family. In a year’s time most of you will have forgotten the likes of Juan Pablo all his dates, comments, actions etc. For Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell however, this is the start of their life. Juan Pablo may have disappointed some of you with his choices such as not proposing to Nikki on the season finale or choosing not to profess his love on “The Bachelor: The Women Tell All”, he did not disappoint me. I found his affection for Nikki to be genuine and his intentions to honor her father’s request respectable. Actually the only thing real about this season of “The Bachelor” was the ending; kudos to Juan Pablo for keeping the real in reality, and not conforming.
