The story of my home ownership began last year, and since then there have been numerous adventures and countless trips to Lowe’s. And it never takes just ONE trip to Lowe’s. Thank goodness I live close by; I’ve been there 3 times in one day before.
My favorite story is of when my husband and I bought our lawn mower. Buying lawn equipment is an exciting milestone to pass, but then when it’s 100 degrees outside and you’ve got to mow the lawn…ugh! Not so exciting anymore.
Growing up, my husband and I both helped with yard work, using PUSH mowers. It wasn’t until I was about 12 that my dad got a self-propelled mower. Thankfully, since I had an older brother, I could get out of that chore, but my husband wasn’t so lucky. Being an only child AND being a boy, there’s no way he was getting out of yard work! So, after years of mowing a 2 acre lot with a push mower, he wanted to buy a riding mower. Totally understandable, right?
Well, let’s talk about EXPENSIVE!!! Being the frugal person I am, I typed in “Lowe’s coupon” online, hoping to find a printable one. A link to eBay appeared where someone was selling a 10% off Lowe’s coupon. I bought it for $7.27, which I would then turn around and use on a $1,000 mower, saving me a grand total of a $92.73 cents!!!
Off we went to Lowe’s to buy the mower, BUT before we were even out of the parking lot, we looked at each other and said, “That was so expensive!” We drove around for 20 minutes, went back to Lowe’s, returned the mower we had just bought, and down graded to a self-propelled mower. We got a weed whacker as well with the warranties, all for less than HALF of the previous purchase. So, we got our 2 trips in for 1 project.
Fast forward to tomorrow. Time to break out the new lawn equipment. We opened the weed whacker and it was damaged. Back to Lowe’s for an exchange. 3 trips!
It’s inevitable! Multiple trips to Lowe’s for ONE project. It’s no longer just a theory for me and my husband. It’s law! Good thing we love Lowe’s. Our favorite date nights are dinner off the value menu at Wendy’s and a trip walking around Lowe’s.
