It was a normal Sunday morning. Breakfast with the entire family and random conversation ensues. My son comments on how much homework he has to do today since he pretty much shirked all his duties over the course of the weekend since he received an upgraded cell phone on Friday and you know boys and their toys…
He commented that the teacher for whom he needed to do all of the homework for was a vegan. He said that she told them she was forty years old. They were all shocked because they all said that she looked at least half her age!
I told him that I’ve noticed that vegetarians and vegans both seem to house an inner glow and youthful vitality. We all reasoned that it made perfect sense since they are in-taking virtually living foods. While we are scarfing down dead chickens and cows and pigs, etc., vegans are putting fresh plants, fruits, seeds, nuts and whole grains into their bodies. So all that living matter imparts that same vitality into the person consuming it. It makes perfect sense.
So, there’s always a huge gap in between saying something and actually doing it. My family and I have decided that we’ll give it a go. I don’t want to start off anything half-cocked, so I will do a bit of researching, make menus for the first week and do the grocery shopping and we’ll start the Vegan diet the Monday after Easter Sunday. I know it will be an adventure and I’m sure that if it doesn’t inspire us to actually become vegans or vegetarians, it will at least inspire us to make better choices in our diets. I’ll keep you posted!
