Just because LeBron is averaging 26.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 6.6 assists we cannot call him the best player in the NBA right now. Let’s look at the people who have a chance at the award other than LeBron.
Kevin Durant-This guy is having a breakout season averaging a career high 31 points and even going on the board averaging 7.6 rebounds. He’s had a very good percentage shooting over .500. He even had 12 straight games where he had above 30 points. This performance is helping the team right now, they’re number one in the league because of this guy and even with Westbrook out, he’s carrying this team on his shoulders.
Carmelo Anthony: This team is experiencing a nightmare, because this is the first time the Knicks have not been expected to go to the playoffs since they’ve had Anthony. If they don’t go to the playoffs that’s just plain sad, they have the second best scorer in the league. On the other hand though Carmelo has a had an amazing season averaging 27.4 points and 8.6 rebounds a game, his team might not being doing good, but he is. The team needs to get someone with Carmelo or trade him and start rebuilding and hope for the best in the draft. We’re talking about the New York Knicks here, the richest team in the league, they should improve the players they have right now or get an another all-star that could help the team. Carmelo is also becoming a free agent so they need to do something and quick.
Stephen Curry- You might think I’m stupid for putting this guy with all the other amazing players in this article, but I think he really deserves the spot. Steph is averaging 24.6 points and leading the league with assists with 9.1. His team has had some bad losses but even in those bad losses he’s had amazing games. This award is called the Most Valuable Player right, a lot of people forget that. Now back to Steph, this guy carries the team, without him they would be a mess, nobody to pass the ball to. He gives other people chances while giving himself chances by driving for a layup to the hoop or shooting a three. Remember last year he was the best three point shooter by far and even beat some all-time greats. He has that same skill this season.
Kevin Love- Again his performance is just exceptional but his team has to improve somehow. In fourth place for scoring he averages 25.6 points and also averages 13.3 rebounds. This guy needs help from someone else. The Wolves might go pretty high in the draft and might steal a really good player. This might be the best season Kevin Love has had, with another player who can help him this team would be really good.
There are some other exceptional players but I think these players are at the top of the list. There’s nothing against LeBron here, he has the same or better chance at this award, but these are the people that people don’t really notice for the MVP. A lot of people do forget that this award does stand for Most Valuable Player and some people think the first person is LeBron but these guys have the same chance as him.
