On June 6th, 2014, Playdom released Marvel: Avengers Alliance Tactics, a spin-off to the popular Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance. Assignments are similar to operations in the original games. An Assignment is a series of Tasks that you perform in order to get rewards and forward the plot of the game. The game has various types of Assignments, all of which offer different benefits. The following guide to Assignments in Marvel: Avengers Alliance Tactics will introduce you to this system and help you navigate it successfully.
Assignment Overview – Every single Assignment is a set of ordered Tasks. An Assignment can have as few as one Task, but most have three or five Tasks. The current Task for each of your Assignments will show on a vertical bar on the left side of your World Map. When you complete a Task, you earn a reward and then the next Task for the Assignment replaces the old one.
Chapter Assignments – Chapter Assignments progress the plot of the game. Each chapter has multiple Assignments and you need to complete an Assignment to unlock the next one. At any time your can reset a Chapter Assignment or even replay an older one, but you can never have more than one active Chapter Assignment at a time. Your current Task limits what locations on the World Map you can battle at. Most Chapter Assignments are exactly five Tasks long, though the Epic Battle is only a single Task.
Secondaries – Unlike Chapter Assignments, you can have as multiple Secondaries available at once. One Secondary Assignment will always be based on a hero and will generally require you to engage in combat with that hero or upgrade that hero in some way. At the start of the game the Middle Management Secondary Assignment will also be available. When you complete Middle Management, you gain one hero for free. Other Secondaries will appear as they are released or as you progress your character and a new one will always appear when you complete your current one based on a hero.
Spec Ops – Spec Ops stands for “Special Operations.” These are time limited Assignments that are particularly long and usually require a specific set of heroes to complete. You can have a Spec Ops Task available at the same time as a Chapter Assignment Task and this will often offer a different location where you can engage in a battle.
Rewards – When you complete a Task, you receive a reward. When rewards are available from a Task, the icon for the Task will change green and indicate that a reward is available. If you click on that icon, you will gain all associated rewards, including a possible Shield Bonus Spin. A Shield Bonus Spin can grant you basic resources, special powers for your heroes or even Command Points. Once you receive all the rewards, the icon for the Task will be replaced by the next Task in the line or the starting Task of the next Assignment if you also completed an Assignment.
Re-Launch – At any time you can restart an Assignment by pressing the Re-Launch button. This removes all progress you have made and restarts you at the first Task. If you Re-Launch a Chapter Assignment other than the one you are currently working on, it removes all progress you have made and switches your active Assignment.
