A lot of people love rainy days, myself include, because it gives you the chance to sit back and relax. Listening to the rain falling down can be a great stress reliever with its soothing sound also. However, there are plenty of people who can’t stand it when it rains. It ruins everything for them and puts them in a bad mood. All it takes is a few activities to get you through the rain, and you can even have fun doing it. You never know, unless you give them a try.
Most people love reading. It can get your mind off of everything and help ease stress that you experience during the rest of the week, depending on what it is you’re reading. It can be something fun and adventurous, like the Harry Potter books, or other fantasy books like the Twilight Saga. If you like, you can ready something historical, or even something romantic. The type of books you can read are endless so a rainy day will allow you catch up on anything that you haven’t read, but want to. If you have children, you can keep them quiet by reading them an awesome story, or acting out one of their favorite stories, such as The Wizard of Oz. Children love it when you do that. It’s fun, it kills the time, and it’ll help take your mind off the rain.
Not only with reading, but if you’re a writer working on your own book/manuscript, this can be a great opportunity to do that while listening to the rain as well. Who knows? The rain can provide the perfect atmosphere for concentrating, and generating new ideas for more books.
Lots of games can be played that will kill your boredom and allow you to have fun on rainy days. Board games, card games, word games, whodunit games are all fun and enjoyable for people of all ages. You can even play online games, DVD games, and other games that are normally played on XBOX’s, Nintendo etc. Be creative and make up a game. If you’re with friends play truth or dare. With games, you’ll never run out of something to do.
If you’d like to take a break from games and have a cool conversation, that’s always nice too. Having a great conversation benefits in killing the time and keeping your mind off the rain. You can talk about memories, old events, school days, movies, celebrities, pranks, holidays, the games you’ve just played, and so much more. People underestimate the power of a good conversation because of all the technology hype these days. Sit back, relax, turn everything off and just talk. You’ll be surprised by how fun that can be.
Get the popcorn ready, have the candy on hand, the soda, and shakes…and just curl up in the dark and watch a good old scary movie. Me personally, I don’t get the chance to do this often so whenever I get the chance on a rainy day, I’m taking the opportunity without hesitation. I love scary movies, so that will be my choice. You can choose whatever it is that you want to watch.
Color and Play:
This is for the young kids who get bored so easily. Coloring, and playing with each other will have them forgetting about all that rain in no time. Get involved with your kids and go on a treasure hunt with them. Hide items throughout the house and give them a treat for whomever finds them all. Make any situation fun.
This may be a little extreme, but how about you go out and get wet in the rain anyway. If your kids are involve take consideration into making sure they don’t get sick. Getting a little wet hasn’t hurt anyone, and it can actually feel like a good cleansing of the soul; taking all the stress away. Even if it’s only for five or ten minutes, go wild. Why not?
Also fun for kids, pitch a tent and pretend you’re camping. Turn out all the lights, get some treats together and tell scary stories. They’ll love that, and so will you.
