Earth Day for the people of Eastern Idaho begins with a day full of activities in Idaho Falls, Idaho. On Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Tautphaus Park the festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. and goes until 3:00 p.m. and it will be a full day. Here is a list of some of the local activities:
Earth Day Recyclable Art Sculpture Contest
Make a sculpture out of recycled items and bring it to the Celebration at Tautphaus park by 10:00 am. The entries are judged by the public throughout the day. Then prizes will be awarded at 2:30 p.m.
If you are a kid or have kids then look for the area for the kids where creativity is fun; decorating a flower pot, making an Earth necklace, an insect buddy, and an edible aquifer. Be sure to participate in a fun scavenger hunt.
Do you have any of these things below sitting around cluttering up your house, don’t throw them away. Bring them to the Recycle Row at Tautphaus Park

· Used books
· Used bikes
· Rechargeable and alkaline batteries
Skateboard and BMX Bike Competition The competition begins at 1:00 p.m. and if you want to be in it you must register between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon. This takes place at the skate park next to Funland in Tautphaus park. Be sure to bring your helmet.
Medication Disposal Drop
There will be a collection box at the CWI Booth where CWI and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office will dispose of them for you. All liquid containers need to be in a sealed plastic band. Do not bring and syringes.
Idaho Falls Astronomical society Solar Viewing
See the arcs of flame and the sunspots that can be viewed safely on the solar telescopes belonging to the Idaho Falls Astronomical Society. Come with questions to ask and their amateur astronomers will answer them for you.
Earth Day Contests 2014
Do you like to enter contests, Earth day 2014 has lots of contests. Poster contest, quilt block contest, Essay Contest, Recyclable Art Sculpture Contest, Recycle/Re-use Costume Contest, and an Earth Day Classroom Challenge. Prizes will be awarded at the Earth Day Celebration on April 26 at Tautphaus Park Hockey Shelter. The Award Ceremony will be at 12:00 p.m.
City – Wide Clean-up
The week of May 3rd thru May 10th is a scheduled city wide chance to get rid of unwanted items. Residents are encouraged to tidy their homes, yards and neighborhoods during this annual event. http://www.idahofallsidaho.gov/
