1. Spend time. If you’re starting a business online, you may want to invest a lot of your time on it. You’ll want to make sure everything’s perfect, that you’ve got the right presentation, a stocked inventory, etc. However, this isn’t wise, especially for the online market. The internet is so versatile and people’s needs are constantly changing. You’ll constantly need to try new things and create different ideas to suit the needs of the diverse and changing market. Spend just enough time on your project as necessary, then ditch it if it doesn’t work. You’ll also risk burnout from focusing too much on and idea that may never get off the ground.
2. Spend money. Every time I’ve spent money on an internet based business, I have almost always failed. There’s just too much competition online to waste money on investment. As goes with spending time, technology and your customer’s needs may change and you may want to try a different project. You’ll have to go through a large amount of money to try all the things may need to that require investments.
3. Join communities. In the company of many is wise counsel, however, there can be pitfalls. New businesses like to join forums and do lots of research talking to people about making money online. This almost never works because the people on forums and talks are not the people out there making money.
4. Going your own path. Your school teacher probably told you to always follow your dreams and pursue your interests. This doesn’t work in the real world because making money is all about serving other people’s interests. You can’t do this if you are caught up in what you like to do. Instead, garner ideas from other businesses, get customer feedback and keep up with what’s trending. Don’t rely on yourself to get information about others’ wants unless you will be the one paying yourself.
5. Be creative. While you don’t want to simply get caught up in your own ideas, you need to hone into your personal experiences and skills to create a money making project that is unique and stands out. Simply copying someone else’s ideas can only get you so far and may drown you out. Be creative in finding what people want and use your knowledge and skills to go further than what someone else has already though of.
