People often get lost in the hustle and bustle of busy living. When they run out of shampoo, they pick the first thing off the shelf in the drugstore. Often they are unaware of the amount of harsh chemicals and toxins that we put on and in our bodies every single day during our beauty routines. For every product you can buy at the store, there is a natural do-it-yourself alternative that is just as good (if not better) and (normally) extremely cost efficient…not to mention EASY!
This is a step-by-step guide on how to make my own personal favorite all-natural body scrub that leaves your skin feeling gloriously moisturized and smooth after use.
You will need:
A medium sized bowl to mix in
An empty container with a lid
Dead Sea Salt/Epsom Salt (I like to mix both)
Vitamin E Oil
Carrier Oil – Sunflower, Almond, Olive; it’s up to you. I use Jojoba oil.
Essential/Fragrance Oil – Tea Tree, Mint, Rosemary – your choice! If you use fragrance oil, make sure it is cosmetic grade. For the body scrub, I use Eucalyptus essential oil. The mint scent leaves me feeling fresh and invigorated.
You can find these items in many different places. Many health food stores carry essential oils, vitamin E, and carrier oils. I buy my products online because I buy in bulk. EssentialWholesale.com has everything you need and more at an affordable price.
First, take 1 cup of whichever salt you choose. If you are mixing, use ½ cup of each and pour them into the mixing bowl.
Second, measure ¾ cup of the carrier oil you choose and mix it in with the salt.
Third, add 5-10 drops of Vitamin E Oil.
Last, add 16 drops of essential/fragrance oil or more/less depending how strong or weak you’d like the scent to be.
Mix everything together and pour into a container with a lid and you’re ready to exfoliate!
Keep in mind that this scrub does contain a fair amount of oil and oil is slippery, use caution when using in the bathtub or shower!
