We eat foods we enjoy every day: we drink coffee, eat lots of hamburgers, and have many sweets and cakes. While these foods are not so terrible; they become a problem when we consume them in excess and neglect to eat vegetables and fruits. When this imbalance occurs, we get warning signals in our bodies that tell us we our overindulging in acidic foods.
One of the first warning signs is gout. It’s like a warning light in your car indicating the need of an oil change. This change is a diet change in your body, and with it gout will disappear and overall health will improve.
Gout is caused by a buildup in uric acid. A substance called purine comes from acidic foods like meats, coffee, and sugar. It is a very painful disorder that will hit you when you least expect it. It is typified by sharp pains in your joints or in your big toe due to the buildup of uric acid. The following are three steps to relieving gout:
- 1. Reduce Inflammation- The first step is to lower your inflammation immediately with cherries, or tart cherry juice, and apple cider vinegar. You can also take proteolytic enzymes, and pineapples; the enzymes and bromelain will reduce the inflammation. Check out the health links on my profile at iherb.com for great places to find these products. As the inflammation goes down the pain will also go away.
- 2. Change Daily Diet- The second step is to lower the intake of acidic foods. Increase the amount of alkaline foods in your diet while lowering your intake of acidic food; this will create the conditions to relieve and eliminate the uric acid- so the gout will disappear. Green up your diet, and reduce or eliminate coffee and alcohol intake. Further you should avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup in drinks, and drink more purified water. Lower your intake of sweet drinks, and switch to spring water in glass bottles.
Foods to help the alkalinity are:
- · Apples
- · Salads
- · Vegetable juices
- · Bananas
- · Limes
- · Pineapples
- 3. Exercise- The third step is to get some moderate exercise. This will help move the uric acid evenly over your body so it won’t build up in specific places. And further being overweight contributes to this condition.
