These are my own experiences that I hope help you direct your life down the path God wants you to follow. Not too long ago I decided it’s time I did something with my life. It’s time I chased my dreams, lived a fuller more productive life, and got down to business. I’ve been a Christian my whole life, but I always felt as though I wasn’t giving my all. That has always been a challenge for me because I never gave my all, and in my opinion everyone should be doing their utmost to put their heart into everything they do. God, work, family, life!
The more I thought about it the more I realized, that if I don’t build my foundation around God what hope do I have to ever accomplish the things I want to accomplish in this life? Without God as my foundation I have no hope at all. First thing I did was pray to Him, and asked Him to forgive me of my idleness. I prayed for forgiveness, and I praised God for everything he’s blessed me with throughout my life. I’ve been making a conscious effort to carry God with me throughout the day, and I really do see it affecting my decisions and choices every day.
Next thing I focused on was reading the bible. This one may be hard for a lot of people. It’s hard to stay consistent in reading His Word, especially for those who don’t read at all. It’s better to start in the New Testament, because it’s more driven towards lessons on life. Just one or two pages every day is all I’m asking for you to read. It’s easy. Just do it.
Now I don’t know about some of you, but personally, I’m not at all fond of church. I’m an introvert, and I feel so uncomfortable in crowds. So where else am I going to get exposure to the bible? My only choice was to read it myself, so I do. I read every morning before I go to work, and I think it’s the absolute best way to start the day. Every time I pick up the bible all I see written on the front is “How to Live an Awesome Life Book”. What better way to start the day than by reading a few pages out of that?!
Next, you have to start thinking about all the things you feel guilty about. If you feel guilt for something then chances are you shouldn’t be doing whatever it may be. Sex, drugs, the occasional song you steal off the internet instead of buying it, or even telling your younger brother you don’t want to hang out with him because he’s annoying. It’s time to check yourself on these things. Get cracking. You’ll literally feel the presence of God when you live for Him, and it is truly amazing. I have never felt more myself, and I hope to live the rest of my life for God.
I hope you enjoyed reading. Now go enjoy reading your bible!
