Nico Minoru is a little known hero in the Marvel universe. Despite this, she has proven to be remarkably effective and difficult to defeat in PvP in Marvel: Avengers Alliance. A great deal of her difficulty comes from the fact that she effectively has twice the health of all other heroes and effectively has more than twice as may powers. If, like many players in the game, you are losing to her more often than you are winning, the following strategy guide will teach you how to defeat Nico Minoru in PvP in Marvel: Avengers Alliance.
Despair / Brutal Strike – One of these two abilities is practically critical to defeating Nico Minoru. Without them, she will recover to full health and shed all negative status effects on her the first time she is reduced to 0 health. Even more frustrating, between when she is reduced to 0 health and her next turn, she is completely immune to damage and negative status effects. If you can’t prevent this resurrection, then you want to try to minimize its impact on your battle. The best way to minimize the impact is to avoid attacking her at all until the other two enemies have been defeated.
Status Effects – Nico can unleash a veritable deluge of varying status effects, some of which are more devastating than others. Unless you have multiple powers that can remove status effects, you will want to be very wary about using any status removal powers. For example, Nico can apply a status effect that can prevent every member of your team from using melee attacks. If your team has Juggernaut and Quicksilver, this is devastating. In general, you only want to remove status effects in a fight against Nico when they are absolutely lethal and you almost never want to use the Scroll of Angolob to remove positive effects from the opposing team.
Haste – There is yet another reason that you have to be very careful about Nico’s resurrection. In addition to all the other benefits previously mentioned, she will act twice per round after resurrecting. By this point she will probably be out of special powers, but Witch Arm alone is enough to tear through your team. Unfortunately, nothing can negate this other than defeating her, so if you do let her resurrect, she has to be your top priority.
Avoid Bleeding – Do not apply bleeding to Nico. Besides the fact that she takes reduced damage from bleeding, she deals more damage while bleeding. She will apply this status effect to herself, and you can’t do anything about that, but the last thing you want to do is speed up the process. Also, ravaged is meaningless against her. Reduced damage from her special ability takes priority over increased damage from ravaged.
Gamora – If Nico Minoru is constantly a thorn in your side and you find yourself facing her constantly, save up 90 command points and buy Gamora. She is an excellent PvP character normally and is by far the best option for defeating Nico. She is a tactician, she can apply despair, and she can apply cower which has a chance of negating Nico’s most devastating attacks, all of which are single use abilities.
