We’ve all been faced with a tough decision before. Some decisions we make don’t have a right or wrong and dealing with these decisions and choosing one or the other can be stressful. It can also make you second guess your decision afterwards no matter which way you choose to go. Here are some ways you can deal with a tough decision and make the most out of one.
When you’re faced with a decision where the difference between right or wrong just doesn’t apply there are several things you can do. The first is to write down the pros and cons of the decision. Yes, I mean literally write the advantages and disadvantages down so you can compare. Be completely honest and write down everything you can think of. Once you have all the facts then you can look at your positives and negatives and make the best decision based on those. Try to look at it as if the advantages should be greatest.
Another way to deal with a tough decision is by asking others their opinion on a matter. However, don’t ask them to make the decision for you. Get feedback from a few people and them make a decision based on the feedback and how you feel about the decision.
If you’re dealing with a tough decision it’s best not to make hasty decisions. You need time to think over the situation and then make it. For many, they decide to sleep on it or at least wait a day before making any important decision. This gives you additional time to get input and maybe think of something that you missed.
When making a tough decision it’s important to be decisive and stick with your decision. There will always be people who think you are wrong no matter what you choose to do. Make a decision and stick with it without second guessing yourself either. Try to picture in your mind the “What if” scenario and if you would second guess your decision if you choose one or the other. By putting yourself in the situation after the decision you can better tell how the decision will affect you.
